Procrastinator me
I really didn't mean to not post this. I'm a terrible person. (updated: Mom reminded me that I didn't write it a month ago. Excessively terrible)
So, my little brother and his lovely wife had a child. In August. She looks like this:
Since then, I went to 3 weddings (two of Jay's friends from high school and my cousin). I'm now back at work, and rather busy as usual.
I'm also taking a pottery class. I've managed to ruin 2 pieces already - I over-trimmed a bowl and left water in the bottom of a vase so that it cracked. However, it seems to be going better than the last time I took a class. I still don't really follow good pottery practices though. I never was very good at centering pieces on the wheel, or using the techniques that good potters do. Instead, I fake it. Unfortunately, it shows in my not-so-uniform pieces. But I do have 2 mugs, 2-3 bowls, and a few other pieces made so far. So I guess I shouldn't worry too much about it.
A side effect of pottery is that I want to get a wheel and kiln now. I realize that I don't know anything about firing though. The gap between my knowledge and my desires makes me sad. I also discovered something called glass fusing that is done using a kiln - basically using the kiln to melt pieces of glass together. I can think of so many things I could make. Oh well. Maybe some day.
