The carpal tunnel

So. Turns out I may have carpal tunnel. I have some sort of nerve problem, at any rate. My fingers and sometimes my toes have been going numb since I started the new job. I'll have to wait about 3 months before I can get in for a definitive test. By then I'm hoping the problem will have gone away. Or the job will have gone away. The doctor seemed to think that my many-several years of computer work had something to do with this. Which is why I'm slightly suspicious that it's actually carpal tunnel, since I've had no problems till I started housekeeping. But I guess I'll see in a few months. Till then, I've got a stylish wrist brace to wear to bed. All the cool kids are doing it.

This job thing

I think the thing I dis-enjoy the most about my job is that I'm around people all day. I work with someone else, I'm rarely alone in a room all day. All breaks are with the 8 or more other housekeepers. I have no time to myself. And it's driving me nuts. Or more nuts. Plus today I was rather frazzled by the end of the day, and when I got home the house was full of more people. I don't deal well with people. I have no patience with them. I'm nice to them, I come across all warm and fuzzy and polite, but inside I just want to walk away, or want them to walk away. I'm a hermit by nature.

Well crap

I just made a rather disappointing discovery. I thought I had enough fabric to make a quilt for my little brother's wedding, but it turns out I don't. I didn't cut enough for my original quilt, so I won't have those leftovers. Boo on me.

I do have a lot of crazy scraps kept by my grandma for some quilt project that never got off the ground. However, they're not cotton, and they're not colour coordinated. At all. So I have a slight problem with making them into a wedding gift. I think it's time to start thinking about going in with my siblings on a conventional gift. Sigh.

Forgot about this till now

This video is so awesome. It reminds me of Ryan (link not working, you can see him on my sidebar), I can totally see him doing that. In fact, once I saw him do cardio hip hop, which is quite similar, and was really freakin' great. I wish I'd had a camera. In other news, I just tried to go to Ryan's site and there's nothing there. This is worrying me. I hope he's okay.

It's time for a celebration. Off with my pants!

Everyone will be happy and relieved to know that I have a job. Finally. Starting tomorrow, I'm a housekeeper at one of the hotels in town. Sounds like they have high standards, which is good. However, I hope that doesn't start stressing me out, since I tend to take my time when doing a good job of things. We'll see. And if it doesn't work out, I suppose I can always start looking again. But for now this should pay rent and bills.
